Mizon Acence Blemish Out Pink Spot Review

Ah, spots.  No matter how diligent a skincare routine one has, for those who are acne-prone, blemishes are a fact of life and can only negotiated with, mitigated, and avoided as best we can.  Until they develop a medication that reduces my stress, allows me to eat whatever I want without a care for dietary sensitivities, completely stabilizes my hormones, and gives me the benefits of 8 hours of sleep on 3 hours a night- I will have breakouts.

The question then becomes: what do we do with them?  As you may know if you are a longtime follower of my blog, I have very congested skin.  My pores are always blocked and threatening to erupt into angry blemishes that fight their way to the surface and then try to scar afterwards, and since starting AHA a few months ago, I have had some pretty serious purges.  Closed comedones deep under the surface which I thought I would have to have a derm remove with a sharp object surfaced and are gone without a trace.

Sometimes though, they need help, and not the picking-at-your-skin kind.  So far, the best spot treatments I have found for healing blemishes after they have opened is hydrocolloid bandages (reviewed here), but when it came to bringing things to a head faster, I was at a loss.  Worse, these blocked pores were usual so painful and irritating that it became impossible not to unconsciously poke at my face, which worsened the whole situation.

Enter the Mizon Acence Blemish Out Pink Spot treatment, which I found surprisingly effective in drawing things up into a head much faster and with less damage.

To be honest, I had heard bad things about the 'pink powder' treatments, that they were just drying out the blemish, they were pretty much just alcohol, etc, etc.  As usual, though, I obsessively researched this product before buying it, and decided to give it a try.

Weekday Randomness: Testing progress, and I love my spreadsheet

Seriously, without my spreadsheet I would be lost.  Lost! (Click here to view it in all it's glory, and read on for how to use the features to filter what you are looking at!)  Recently a friend let me know that my spreadsheet is apparently appreciated by others as well, so I thought I'd post a quick guide on how to navigate it for the curious.

As you can see in the screencap below, my current Routine tab is just the tip of the iceberg.  The spreadsheet rabbit hole goes far deeper, my friends.

2016 edit: My spreadsheet has updated quite a bit since writing this post, but the sections for my routine, stash, sheet masks, and testing schedule are all present and still applicable.

In this post:
  • What I've been up to
  • My testing schedule and how much I lurve formulas that do math for me
